ITI-110 Windows Client-Server

Prerequisite(s): Grade of “C” or better in ITI 107 and ITI 108.

Course Rationale: This course will provide students with basic networking skills required to succeed in the field.

Catalog Description:

This course builds on the knowledge and skills gained in ITI 100 and targets the fundamentals of Microsoft Windows network operating systems. Students install and configure Windows network operating systems as domain controllers in a basic network security model. At the conclusion of this course, students are able to create user and group accounts, set up security policies, domain trust relationships and Active Directory Services (ADS) for network resource accessibility and administration.

Course Objectives

  1. Configure hardware in preparation for installation of the Windows network operating systems.

  2. Install the Windows Server operating system from CD-ROM/DVD and network sources. C

  3. onfigure the OS to provide network connectivity using the TCP/IP protocol.

  4. Configure Windows servers as domain controllers in an Active Directory environment.

  5. Configure DNS and DHCP for utilization Active Directory environment.

  6. Create and administer users, groups, and resources in accordance with the AGUDLP standard used by Microsoft.

  7. Configure and differentiate between NTFS security permissions and standard network share permissions.

  8. Configure and implement group policies in an Active Directory environment.

  9. Troubleshoot and repair various server failures including: security configuration, domain trust relationships, printer configuration and hardware failures.

  10. Develop and demonstrate written and verbal communication skills through in-class writing assignments and a research paper and corresponding presentation.
